Recycling For Charities Holds Donation Drive

November 10th, 2005

Recycling for Charities (RFC), Royal Oak , Michigan , has announced that it will be collecting unwanted electronics throughout the Detroit area in recognition of America Recycles Day Nov. 14 to 18.

America Recycles Day , sponsored by the National Recycling Coalition, is Nov. 15 and helps to raise environmental awareness and draw attention to the need to conserve natural resources.

Recycling for Charities collects used or unwanted cellular phones, PDAs, iPods, pagers, ink cartridges and other small electronic devices. Proceeds from each donation, which are tax deductible, will go to the charity that the donator specifies. Donation receipts can be printed at http://www.recyclingforcharities.com/Organization-Fundraising-Programs.php . A list of participating charities is also available from the organization's Web site. Collection containers will be located throughout metro Detroit , including at all St. Vincent DePaul thrift stores.

Those unable to make it to the collection donations can donate online at any time by visiting www.recyclingforcharities.com .

"We are giving individuals the opportunity to invest in the environment and their community in one step," Dwight Zahringer, president and founder of RFC, says.

"With the proliferation of cell phones and other electronic devices, the public needs a source for properly disposing of old, unwanted items," Zahringer adds. "This donation drive on America Recycles Day affords us the opportunity to do just that."
