The Launch of a Permanent "e-waste" Recycling Program

ROYAL OAK, MI - December 5, 2005 - Recycling for Charities is proud to welcome Visteon Corporation, a leading global automotive supplier, as a partner in a permanent "e-waste" recycling program that will enable its employees at Visteon Village in Van Buren Twp. to donate their unwanted electronic items such as cell phones, pagers, PDA's, iPods, digital cameras, ink cartridges or Palm Pilots to benefit charities.

The Visteon employees at Visteon Vill age will be recycling their electronics. For every item recycled a donation will be made to a charity of Visteon's choice. The charity benefiting from the donations will change quarterly.

"Electronic waste recycling is a great program," Said Dwight Zahringer, President and Co-founder of Recycling for Charities "It allows companies like Visteon to be able to support local non-profit organizations while continuing a commitment to the environment. I'm surprised there aren't more companies running the same program," He continued.

Visteon Corporation has won numerous awards for their environmental management. Some include, the "Dow Jones Sustainability Index," "'Industria Limpia' (Clean Industry) Award Recertification," "Federal Agency for Environmental Protection, Mexico, 2002 Environmental Recognition Award, Honda Corporation," and the "Climate Protection Award, United States Environmental Protection Agency, 2001."

The primary goal of Recycling for Charities is to keep wireless equipment, also known as "e-waste," from gathering in landfills where it can harm the environment. Cellular phones and other small electronic devices contain toxins such as lead and mercury that can leak out of landfills and contaminate sources of drinking water.

"The well-being of the environment should be a concern to all of us," said Pete Garbowski, co-founder of Recycling for Charities. "With the proliferation of cell phones and other electronic devices, we need a source for properly disposing of old, unwanted items. It is because of companies like Visteon that our program works and can help so many local charities as well as the environment."

The Visteon employees at Visteon Village will be recycling their electronics. For every item recycled a donation will be made to a charity of Visteon's choice. The charity benefiting from the donations will change quarterly.
